Skipton, a story of giving
For UK charities, national fund-raising events ... and more
In the past we’ve offered a helping hand to sporting clubs including Molesey Boat Club, based by the River Thames near Hampton Court. Our funding provided support for Molesey’s athletes in their training towards the London 2012 Olympics. Seven of Molesey's rowers took to the water to represent Team GB and all seven won Olympic medals!
As well as our Grassroots Giving Programmme, Skipton also has its Charitable Foundation Programme which each year donates around £150,000 to charities around the UK. Over the years cash donations have been given to many deserving causes, including a specialist school in Sussex which helps in the development of children with learning difficulties, a bereavement support service based in the Midlands, a resource group for carers in North Yorkshire, a Leeds organisation which helps disadvantaged children, and a group which seeks to improve the lives of people unable to speak because of disability.
We continue to support the marvellous and uplifting Skipton Building Society Camerata which beings musical delights to all parts of the country.
If you have a social, sporting or artistic project which could benefit from our support, please take the time to apply for funding from Skipton's Grassroots Giving programme.
Local Fundraisers
Our branches love to help their local communities and will organise their own fund-raising events for local good causes, or join in the big national charity fund-raisers such as Sport Relief, Comic Relief, Children in Need and the "World's Biggest Coffee Morning" in support of the Macmillan cancer charity.
