Grassroots Giving 2017

Apply for funding

Applications now closed

Skipton Building Society’s Grassroots Giving community funding scheme has now closed for 2017 – this year we have a total fund of £82,000 to help small groups and organisations make a difference in their neighbourhood.

In 2017, 164 groups will receive funding of £500 to help them build a brighter future in their local communities. Last year, our 163 deserving winners shared a total fund of £81,500, and they are now enjoying spending the money in their area, with communities all over the country reaping the benefits. We are determined to give dozens more groups the opportunity to make a difference in 2017.

In 2016, hundreds of community groups, clubs and organisations from across the UK applied to Grassroots Giving last year and a staggering 38,000 votes were cast online and in Skipton’s branches by the public.

Grassroots Giving was launched in 2013 to celebrate the Society’s 160th anniversary and proved an immediate success. It was designed to reflect our mutual roots and established to help people and communities to help themselves.

Grassroots Giving 2017 will, once again, donate pots of money to smaller, community minded organisations which would normally struggle to win funding. This will help a large number of organisations across the UK make a big difference to their neighbourhoods and communities.

Shortlisted groups will be announced on the 1st September with public voting also opening on the 1st September.
